Privacy Policy for Hacking Habits

Dragos Roua ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Hacking Habits mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Privacy-First Design

Hacking Habits is built with privacy as a foundational principle. Your financial data never leaves your device. There are no bank connections, no cloud sync, no accounts to create. Everything stays on your iPhone.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Bank account or financial institution data
  • Transaction history or spending data
  • Personal identification information (name, email, phone)
  • Location data
  • Photos, contacts, or calendar data
  • Health or biometric data

Information Stored Locally

All of the following data is stored exclusively on your device:

  • Financial profile (annual income, hourly rate, currency preferences)
  • Net worth snapshots and burn rate calculations
  • Savings goals and debt strategy entries
  • Habit installation progress and completion logs
  • Purchase pause entries and weekly planning data
  • App preferences and notification settings
  • ADD Diagnostic results

This data is stored using UserDefaults and JSON files in the app's sandboxed Documents directory. It is never transmitted to any server.

Purchases

When you purchase Pro features, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple. We receive:

  • Confirmation that a purchase is active
  • Purchase type (monthly, annual, lifetime, or book bundle)

We do not receive your name, Apple ID, payment method, or any personal details.

Advertising

The free version displays banner ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

  • Device advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you grant tracking permission
  • General location (country/region level, derived from IP)
  • Device information (model, OS version)
  • Ad interaction data

Pro users see no ads, and no advertising data is collected for them.

Local Notifications

The App uses local notifications (not push) for:

  • Morning check-in reminders
  • Sunday planning session reminders
  • Habit completion reminders
  • Purchase pause timer expirations

These are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to our servers.

Sharing Features

When you share a Life Hours calculation card:

  • A locally generated image is created showing the cost in life hours
  • Sharing uses the standard iOS share sheet
  • No data is sent to our servers
  • The shared image contains only the calculation, not your financial profile

Third-Party Services

  • Apple App Store — Processes purchases
  • Google AdMob — Displays banner ads (free users only)

We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, cloud databases, or social media integrations.

Data Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in app sandboxing. Since no data leaves your device, there is no risk of server-side data breaches. We do not operate servers that store user data.

Data Deletion

Since we don't collect data on our servers, there is nothing to delete on our end. To remove all app data:

  • Uninstall the app to remove all local data including financial profiles, habits, and goals
  • UserDefaults and Documents folder data are fully removed on uninstall

Children's Privacy

Hacking Habits is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
