I just launched ShareByLight—transfer files with light only. No Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no cables. One device shows a stream, the other reads it with the camera. Free on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
It’s in the form of an iOS app, and it is actually called Adulthood. I’m not going to lie, I’m very happy to see this live in the AppStore. The review process took about 2 months and it was rejected maybe 4 times before making it. I really had to fight for this one.
But what is it, anyway?
It’s the kind of manual I wish I had in my twenties. When I was moving out for the first time, living by myself. When I was starting to take care of myself, to get into new social circles. I wish I had this when I had to find ways to politely refuse coworkers going for drinks, or when I had to do my annual health screenings.
Well, I have it now and I built it like a user manual for a product you bought. It has 5 sections: Getting Started, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Advanced Settings, and Warranty & Support. If you ever had to deal with user manuals for anything, you will find this eerily familiar.
The app can be tried, but if you’re really serious about being an adult, you will have to pay something. Honestly, that’s the first lesson you should understand as an adult: you will have bills to pay from now on. Until you exit this world, that is. It’s a big part of being an adult, so the sooner you get accustomed to it, the better.
Another part I really like is the “Is This Normal?” section. It hosts questions like:
- Is it normal to live paycheck to paycheck in my 20s?
- Is it normal not to understand investing at all?
You will get the answers in the app, these are part of the freemium section.
You can download the app for free in the AppStore.
