Adulthood
Simple user manual. Life lessons for smart adults.
The operating guide for grown-up life—clear chapters, one useful pick for today, and tools for the moments that usually feel awkward or expensive to get wrong. No shame. No hustle theater.
Why this exists
Most people learn adulting by collision: a late fee, a bad lease, a conversation that went sideways. The information is out there, but it’s scattered, preachy, or buried under lifestyle branding.
Adulthood is the manual I wanted in one place—short enough to use on a Tuesday, honest enough to respect your intelligence.
Read a chapter. Do the minimum viable adult move. Keep going.
Five sections, one shape
Every chapter uses the same five blocks: what this is, when you’ll need it, what most people do, the minimum viable adult move, and what to level up later. Getting Started and Maintenance are on the device. Troubleshooting, Advanced Settings, and Warranty & Support download with Full Manual.
- Getting Started — eight chapters, including Your First Apartment, Setting Up Utilities, Building a Basic Budget, and Important Documents Checklist.
- Maintenance — Weekly Home Reset, Monthly Money Check-In, Seasonal Wardrobe Swap, and Annual Health Screenings.
- Troubleshooting — a landlord who won’t fix things, roommate conflict, a medical bill, job-interview anxiety, a credit-card spiral.
- Advanced Settings — negotiating salary, an emergency fund, investing basics, health insurance, tax filing, finding therapy.
- Warranty & Support — tenant rights, breaking a lease, a complaint at work, when to call a lawyer, crisis lines.
A few concrete uses
- One thing today. Home opens on a single pick. With the goal “Stay on top of life admin,” that pick can be Monthly Money Check-In, with Annual Health Screenings, Seasonal Wardrobe Swap, and Weekly Home Reset listed under it.
- A first apartment. The free manual covers the apartment, utilities, groceries, laundry, and documents. The First Apartment guide runs from search to move-in. The other five guides — first job offer, first doctor visit alone, first credit card, breaking up, moving cities — are in Full Manual.
- A sentence you can say out loud. Phrasebook starts with declining and boundaries: after-work drinks, lending money, unpaid work, a roommate chore talk. Full Manual adds work, money, relationships, and health scripts.
- Is this normal? Short answers for work, money, health, relationships, social life, and self. Fifteen are included. The full set is sixty.
- The chores that slip. The maintenance list resets on its own clock: trash and plants weekly, rent and bank statements monthly, subscriptions quarterly, a physical and renter’s insurance yearly. Junk Drawer holds open loops — five free, then unlimited with Full Manual.
