Terms of Service for ShareByLight

By using the ShareByLight app (“App”) on iOS, iPadOS, or Mac, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the App.

The service

ShareByLight lets you move files between devices using an optical stream (screen to camera). Features may include send, receive, optional passphrase protection, free-tier limits, and a paid Pro unlock via Apple.

Your responsibilities

  • Use the App only in lawful ways.
  • Only transfer files you have the right to share.
  • Understand that anyone who can see the sending screen may capture the stream—use short sessions and encryption for sensitive material.
  • Keep your devices and OS reasonably up to date.

Optical transfer nature

Transfer quality depends on lighting, distance, camera quality, and how steadily you hold the devices. The App does not guarantee a minimum speed or success in all environments.

Free and Pro

Free use may be limited (for example, one direction and smaller files). Pro features are sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple’s terms apply to payment, refunds, and family sharing where available. We don’t control Apple’s billing system.

No warranty

The App is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from use of the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim (or zero if the App was free to you through us).

Third parties

Apple provides the App Store, StoreKit, device APIs, and optional iCloud/CloudKit. Their terms and privacy policies apply to those services.

Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may stop offering the App or change features. Paid features already purchased remain subject to Apple’s rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Romania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise.
